From Shailen Bhandare. Dutch India - silver 1/2
rupee struck posthumously in the name of Alamgir II at Jagannathpur
(Jaggernaykpoeram), AH1194/RY24, 5.8 gm.
For more on the Dutch minting activities, refer to Jan Lingen's wonderfully researched article in
ONS-161 supplement, which was also published in ND-23/24. He lists two half
rupees, but this AH/RY combination is not listed in his corpus.
Jagannathpuram was located close to Machhlipatan and the coins produced here
follow the designs of the Machhlipatan rupees very closely.
