Madras Mint Early Coinages – South Indian System – Gold

MM Pagoda 1730 to 1735

A new type of pagoda was introduced in 1730, and known as the MM pagoda. However, this was not a success, as local rulers did not accept the coins. Minting ceased in 1735.

No specimens have been traced, but Pridmore describes the design and weight. The weight was supposed to be that of the Negapatam pagoda.
