Kalachuris of Ratnapura, Privthideva I (c.1065-90) or II (c.1135-65), AE Unit,

(cf. Deyell 127-128)

Copper units featuring Hanuman are known for Prithvideva (I or II), but the warrior figure on this coin appears to be human. It is possible that the defeated figure below is an upturned lion (head right), copying the Gupta 'lion-slayer' series. If so, this type is unique and unrecorded for the Kalachuris. (Comment from Spink)

Jagapala – Feudatory of Kalachuris of Ratnapur

Jagapala was a feudatory of Kalachuri king Ratna Deva II, and issued these silver coins in the Jabalpur area of central India. Only a handful of specimens are recorded.
