History
See Nelson Wright
Bahrāich was a copper mint of
Akbar. It was an important mart for the trade between India and Nepal, and
doubtless the policy of having a local mint was dictated by the necessity for a
supply of copper coinage for mercantile transactions. The mint seems to have
been moved after 980 to Dogāon, a village a little to the north in the
same district. No other Emperor, as far as is known, coined money at
Bahrāich.
