Daulatābād is situated a few miles
to the west of Aurangābād and was known until the reign of Muḥammad
bin Tughluq as Deogīr. It was the mint of the Niẕam Shāhīs
of Aḥmadnagar but the only Moghul Emperor who struck coins there was
Shāh Jahān. Aurangzeb transferred the mint to Aurangābād.
