Ref:
Todywala sale 38, lot 183. Baglana (Feudatory of
the Nizam of Hyderabad), Silver 1/2 Rupee in the name of Ahmad Shah Bahadur
(1748-54AD), Aurangnagar Mint, AH1161/Ahad. Extremely Rare, Unpublished,
probably unique. The coin bears the “Alam Panah” couplet “Sikkah zad dar
Jahan ba-fazl Ilah Shah Alam Panah Ahmad Shah” (King Ahmad Shah, refuge of
the world, struck coin in the world by the grace of God). This couplet is
found on coins of Ahmad Shah Bahadur on two other mint places, both located
within the Nizam’s dominions, viz: Imtiyazgarh and Dilshadbad. A similar, but
slightly different “Alam Panah” couplet is also found on the rupee of Kashmir
mint (KM 447.1). |
