using the obverse die of Zorawar Khan (AH1241-1291/AD1825-1874) dated AD1872 and the
reverse die dated AH1291 in the name of Bismilla Khan (AH1291-1313/AD1874-1895). It is likely that they
used an old die (of 1872) and combined it for the first issue of Bismilla Khan in AH1291. The latest reported
8 anna for Zorawar Khan
is dated AD1871/AH1289. Later date combinations for Zorawar
Khan may therefore be rare. The die prepared for
AD1872 might still have been in good condition and used, perhaps due to
shortage of time, in combination with the die of AH1291 (accession date) for Bismilla Khan. The coin most
likely was produced as a presentation issue during the accession celebrations
of the new ruler. |
