Marathas – Nasik Mint – Mint Name Gūlshanābād, INO Shāh ‘Ālam II – Copper

The mint charter given in 1765 to the contractor to run the mint at Nasik (Gulshanabad) does not make a mention of any copper coins being produced there. On this coin, the mint-name 'Gulshanabad' is almost fully visible, with the mark of a battle-axe placed within the 'N' of 'Gulshan'. Similar symbol is also seen on some silver rupees of this mint. This is rare Maratha coin, only a couple of other pieces are known to exist.
