Marathas – Sahrind Mint, INO Alamgir II, Silver

The minting activity at Sarhind was revived under the Marathas, as known from rare coins bearing the name of Alamgir II, dated AH 1172/RY6. AH 1172 ended on 24th August 1759, while RY6 began on 31st March 1759 so the coin must have been struck during April, August 1759, the period during which Sarhind was quite certainly under Maratha control.
