Mog-7728c – Half rupee

The half rupee, dated Ry.5, must be in the name of Ahmad Shah. During the early years of Ahmad Shah 's reign there was no trisul mark added to the left of the Ry. On the rupees Yr. Ahd and Ry.2 the prominent trident-like mark is absent, but a small trisul like ornament can be found, which looks more like two leaves and a stem in the centre. Of rupees with Ry.3 I haven't found specimen, but on rupees Ry.4 there is a mark similar as on your ½ rupee. Rupees of Ry.7 of Ahmad Shah the trident or trisul mark has become more prominent. All the trisul-marks have, as far I can observe, without exception a horizontal bar on the stalk. Sometimes it is small but it is always there and continue up to Ry.9 of Shah Alam II.
