Aurangzeb died at Ahmadnagar on 3 March 1707 (Gregorian date). He spent a little more than a year at this place, which he recognized would mark his "journey's end". That end came near in February 1707 when he had repeated bouts of fever which made him weak and feeble.
AH1118 begins on 15th April 1706 and would have been running at the time Aurangzeb died. The RY on the coin could be 50 or 51 - unfortunately it is not clear, otherwise we would have been able to put the coin in accurate historical context.
During his stay at Ahmadnagar, there were many occasions when Nisars like this might have been struck as part of court rituals. It is plausible that they were struck at the very beginning of the year, or on the lunar birthday of the Emperor that followed later.
A day before his death, a courtier named Hamiduddin Khan consulted some astrologers and made a petition to the Emperor to sanction 4000 rupees so an elephant could be given away towards bettering his health. Aurangzeb noted on the petition that the custom of gifting away elephant was a non-Islamic one, and he disapproved of astrologers who made such prescriptions. Instead, he said, 4000 rupees should be given to the chief Qazi of Ahmadnagar to be distributed to the poor.
The next day he came out of his bedroom and performed the morning prayers. Then gradually his breathing became harder and he began to slip away in semi-consciousness. He passed away peacefully in the evening, while pulling his prayer beads and chanting the Kalima.
