Islamabad after it surrendered to the Mughals during a campaign launched by
Amir-ul-Umara Shaista Khan against Shivaji, on 15 August 1660 after a
four-month long siege. The emperor appointed Uzbeq Khan as the commander of
Chakan. Shai'sta Khan continued further south to occupy Pune and chose to
live on Shivaji's mansion. In April 1663, Shivaji launched a daring
night-time raid on Shaista Khan's camp in which the Khan made an escape
through a window, having lost his fingers to the blow of Shivaji's sword! But
Mughal occupation of the region continued with appearance of Jaisingh of
Amber as the Mughal commander in Shaista Khan's lieu.
This coin has the 'Mihr Muneer' couplet. Mint appears on top and RY is to the
right of Julus in the bottom line.
