there is definitely ‘Zarb Baldat’ written below. What followed is not
particularly clear.
The way Tatta is supposed to be written on the coin of Babar (Aman ur Rahman
115-01 & 02) differs from this coin.
Aman
ur Rahman on pag.41 discusses the attribution to Tatta versus Patna. In both
cases these places where not in Mughal hands. Tatta was captured in 37th year
of Akbar and Patna was conquered in AH982. However Babur had a close
relationship with Mirza Husain Arghun (AH928-964) the ruler of Sind. Probably
Mirza Husain acknowledged Babur and later on also with Humayun and had coins
struck in their name. A peculiar sign of a 2 (not a 6 as you mentioned
above) below Muhammad is common on the this coin and the coins shown by Aman ur
Rahman (116-01 & 02), therefore the attribution to Baldat Tatta is
reasonably proved. Another argument for attribution to Tatta may be the use of
the honorific epithet Baldat. On the small anonymous copper coins issued by
Mirza Muhammad Baqi Tarkhan of Sind (AH975-993/AD1567-1585), the inscription
reads: Zarb falus baldat tattah. (Ref. ONS-NL 129; G/G ST1). For further
