Moghul Empire – Jahāndār – Lāhore (dār al-sulṭānat) Mint, Silver – Type 1 – shāhanshāh Couplet

S. Bhandare wrote: This coin has the same legend arrangement as the "12 Masa" coins of Shah ‘Ālam Bahadur which precede it (except positions of 'Julūs' and 'Manoos' are interchanged). [This applies to types 1-3].

My guess is that these must have been struck for a very short time in continuation of the '12 Masa' issues - we seem to have an unbroken sequence of 1123/5, 1123/6, 1124/6 and 1124/Ahd in style of the reverse layout. Other SQ and AF coins of Jahāndār where the date is in centre only as 'Sanah RY' must have followed these. That reverse layout then becomes almost constant on Lāhore coins, barring exceptions of Rafi al-Darjāt, Shāh Jahān II and Muḥammad Shāh RY Ahd and 2, where the mint-name appears in a single line in the centre of the reverse.

Gasht Roshni Hamchu Mihr (wa Mah?) Kaun-wa-Makan
ba-naam-i Shah Jahandar Shahanshah-i-Zaman
"The universe has received light like the Sun
by the name of Jahandar Shah, the king of the World"
Not sure if this fits the meter! Also, would be nice if the word 'Sikka' can be accommodated somewhere
