Photo
from Shailen Bhandare who wrote: Humāyūn - silver
Shahrukhi of Agra dated AH947. The year 947 began on 8th May 1540 and Humāyūn
was defeated near Kannauj by the army of Sher Shah Suri on 17th May 1540. He
retreated to Agra but could not hold on - so fled towards Lahore. Sher Shah
had declared himself the King by this time and pursued Humāyūn
through Delhi to the Punjab.
The coin must have been struck in the small 'window' of about 12 days between
8th and c.20th of May!
