Ahmadnagar Mint – Patterns for Rupee and Pice

Only the rupee is known to exist. See Gupta PL an Unknown Rupee Pattern of East India Company. Numismatic Digest Vol 1, part II, 1977. The records reveal that patterns for pice were also prepared.

sarkar/kampany angrez/bahadur san/1220 (or, more probably, 1221) = (Money of the Honourable English Company).

A Persian inscription surrounded by the legend BRITISH INDIA DECCAN ONE RUPEE.
