Wt = 16.65g. Diam = ~33mm

Photo from Gorny & Mosch, sale 297, lot 158 who wrote:

RR, the 5th known example!
On this tetradrachm, which has a larger diameter than usual, Heracles looks directly at the viewer, while his head is always turned to the left on the other gold and silver coins of Euthydemos I. This Type of coins has so far been classified as posthumous: Bopearachchi refers to it as a Sogdian imitation, Bordeaux, Les Grecs en Inde p. 103f. considers it possible that it was issued by Eucratides I. It is more likely, however, that this is an iconographic experiment that was carried out during Euthydemos' lifetime: since one of the monograms can be found on a bronze Type created around 206 BC (Bordeaux N1), the tetradrachms could have been minted between 210 and 206 BC. Perhaps the invasion of Antiochus III gave rise to the desire to appeal more strongly to users through the frontal gaze of Heracles? Cf. Wünsch/Grigo, A Special Tetradrachm Type of Euthydemos I, OZeAN 5, 2023, pp. 67-74 (fig. 1 = this copy).
