Sometime during the year
1043 or 1044 H the spelling of the mint name Bakkar was
changed on the coins to Bhakkar. The Lucknow Museum
Catalogue has a rupee, #1977, that is recorded as having the dates 1043-7 and
the mint name spelled Bhakkar. If the transition in spellings were smooth, that
coin should have had Bakkar and not Bhakkar. I would
very much appreciate it if someone with access to that collection could verify
the actual spelling.
